timelessbrainstorm: morningstar401: This is a Rikbaktsa man, the Rikbaktsa are an ethnic group that live in the Amazon rain forest of Brazil. Rikbaktsa boys have their ears piercedat the age of 14 or 15 during a ritual celebration signifying their ability to hunt large animals and cultural knowledge. This rite of passage marks the young man’s transition into adulthood and eligibility for marriage with the boy exchanging his child name for his adult name.  The large disks worn by the men of this group has earned them the name Orelhas de Pau or “Wooden Ears”). . Oh my. dope.
